Since electric guitars and guitar amplifiers are the tools of many musical artists, there's always some on the quest for a new sound or the ultimate tone.
Marshall McCluan says, "Art is anything you can get away with." As an amp repair tech, a modifier, and now custom amp builder, I'm thinking if anything goes in art, why not also in technology and electronics? Therefore, my approach has been to keep that perspective as an extension of art in designing, experimenting and building hand-wired tube amps.
However, reliability and safety must not be compromised. Instead reliability and safety need to be as emphasized as the quest for the ultimate tone. This is what to expect in any Blüm amp: an unconventional variety of tone qualities, super reliability and a proper emphasis on safety. This doesn't mean that abuse and misuse can't compromise reliability and safety though. In fact, I'm considering phasing out the use of rectifier tubes, especially contemporarily manufactured ones and replacing them with silicon diodes which would include circuitry to simulate the sag effect.
The amps presented here are merely prototype/demos as a basis of what can be featured in your custom built amp. Most of the features are interchangeable from one model to another based on certain limitations.
I've been experimenting and have developed the use of NOS television tubes for guitar amp power tubes with excellent results. As most of you know NOS tubes are much more reliable than today's manufactured tubes. I highly recommend selecting these tubes in any custom amp project model order.
